I believe one of my biggest complaints about part one was that it ended. Thankfully, Signore Mana wrote a second part, and it is just as engrossing and entertaining as the first one was. If anything, the prose is a little tighter and the suspense sharper, though neither one of those things were exactly problems in the first part.BIAS ALERT: I love novellas... they are perhaps my favourite form of fiction. Stories like these, however, are why I like them. They are long enough to really dig into the characters and the setting, but not so long that you're committed for days or even weeks. Especially in the realms of Sword-and-Sorcery and Adventure, I prefer these good long tales over novels. They seem to be of the length that your war buddy would tell over a long night of drinking at the tavern, not so long that he has to keep coming back to the story over and over.
I recommend this for anyone who likes quality Sword-and-Sorcery and those who miss the Fafhrd and Grey Mouser as much as I do. Additional review over at my blog, Stark Writing Mad.

Lair of the White Ape Aculeo Amunet Book 2 eBook Davide Mana Reviews
This is the second Aculeo and Amunet story I read and it is absolutely entertaining, very well written, with numerous plot twists like the “Bride of the Swamp God”.
Davide Mana is very clever in mixing together humor, adventure and gripping action scenes .
In this story there is a little character progression we see Amunet doing something very special and we meet some old acquaintances of Aculeo.
The chemistry between Aculeo and Amunet is extremely well-drawn through funny and sharp dialogues, the protagonists really fit together well in the story!
The setting is colorful and dangerous and the author injects just enough world building to provide Aculeo and Amunet a playground without overwhelming readers with endless infodumps and needless explorations of military hierarchy or complicated myths and magic.
Also the supporting cast of characters is done perfectly, not too much and not too little.
You can enjoy this adventure even if you didn’t read the previous one because it has a properly defined beginning, middle and end.
I really love Aculeo and Amunet series for the blazing pace, mysterious encounters, likable characters and the author’s commitment to writing self-contained stories in each volume, something that has long since become a rarity within the genre.
Davide Mana simply uses his skill and cleverly addictive writing to ensure that you'll come back again to read more adventures and I will surely go for the next story when it will be published.
More alt-history action in the Conan-esque swords and sorcery Aculeo and Amunet series. Gritty, fast-paced, and satisfying. I can't wait for the next one.
